Learn About the 425-Page Budget Implementation Bill
May 17, 2012
The Conservatives are risking public health care’s future by balancing the books on the backs of the frontline services Canadians rely on.
They are underfunding cash-strapped provinces instead of working with them to modernize services for an aging population. The Conservatives are even risking the safety of Canada’s food supply.
The Trojan Horse budget will:
- shortchange cash-strapped provinces of expected health transfers by $31 billion;
- weaken food and drug regulations at the discretion of the Minister of Health;
- end vital Auditor General oversight of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency;
- pave the way for private contractors to perform food safety inspections.
