Healthcare

The Conservatives are risking public health care’s future by balancing the books on the backs of the frontline services Canadians rely on.

They are underfunding cash-strapped provinces instead of working with them to modernize services for an aging population. The Conservatives are even risking the safety of Canada’s food supply.

The Trojan Horse budget will:

  • shortchange cash-strapped provinces of expected health transfers by $31 billion;
  • weaken food and drug regulations at the discretion of the Minister of Health;
  • end vital Auditor General oversight of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency;
  • pave the way for private contractors to perform food safety inspections.
