Tribute to Jack: MP Charlie Angus Honours NDP Icon
NDP Leadership Convention Rocked and Moved by Jack Layton Tribute Song
March 23, 2012
TORONTO – Member of Parliament Charlie Angus and the hip-hop/rock band ‘Kill the Autocrat’ joined forces to deliver a powerful musical tribute to the late Jack Layton at the NDP Leadership Convention. The inspiring song was part of the leadership candidate showcases, leaving the 4,600 convention delegates both reminiscing and looking ahead to build on Jack’s legacy.
Charlie Angus fought alongside the late New Democrat leader in the House of Commons since first being elected in 2004. Charlie and Jack shared a passion for singing and guitar music. The tribute song, titled Longer than a Lifetime, is now available on iTunes.

Excerpt from the Lyrics:
Don’t let them tell you it can’t be done.
When the night is dark
There’ll always be the dawn
Don’t let them tell you it can’t be done
This is the House that Jack Built
And it’s standing proud and strong
Gotta Have a dream
That’s longer than a lifetime
Doing it our time
We’re making the change
Gotta Have a dream
That’s longer than a lifetime
Doing it our time
We’re making the change
