Family Day Skating Party: A Cherished Tradition
Local Community Joins MP Olivia Chow for an Afternoon Party Full of Fun on the Ice
February 20, 2012
TORONTO – On a sunny and warm winter day, dozens of local families joined Trinity-Spadina MP Olivia Chow for her traditional Family Day skating party. Fuelled by hot chocolate and other goodies, more than a 270 local residents hit the ice together with their local Member of Parliament.
The two-fold event took place both at Christie Pits Rink and the Trinity Bellwoods Rink. The get-together offered local families a formidable opportunity to enjoy the fun of skating while reconnecting with neighbours, friends and their representative in Ottawa. From senior citizens to toddlers, from long-term residents to new immigrants the participants reflected the riding’s diversity.
The event, co-hosted by the Friends of Christie Pits and the Friends of Trinity Bellwoods, was capped by a pizza dinner. Olivia and the co-hosts thank the volunteers and participants for making it another great Family Day.
