How do we stop the HST?
Q: I thought this was a provincial tax, what does the HST have to do with Stephen Harper?
A: The Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) is indeed a provincial tax. However, Ontario is getting $4 billion and British Columbia $ 2 billion from Harper to cover the cost of implementing this tax.
In short, the Conservatives are using your own tax dollars against you.
That’s is outrageous!
Q: Where did the idea for this new tax come from?
A: In the budget of 2009 (p. 166, 262), Stephen Harper introduced the concept of the unfair tax grab and the Ignatieff Liberals went along with it.
Q: How do we stop the HST? What can I do?
A: Jack Layton and the New Democrats have been fighting the $6 billion federal transfer that McGuinty needs to implement this tax. MPs will have to vote in Parliament to approve the transfer. This is why we need your help.

Q: Why do you oppose the HST?
A: The HST is unfair because it will be applied to essential items like home heating costs, gasoline, and funeral services. In addition many items like veterinary services, the Internet and hair styling will cost you more. The average condo owner will have to fork out approximately $325 extra each year in condo fees. Fees for services from an architect, real estate agent or mutual fund administrator will cost you more.
This is not fair.
