Olivia Chow Makes Parliament Work.

While the Conservatives and Liberals threaten each other and play partisan political games, Olivia Chow and the New Democrats are committed to making Parliament work.

Families across Canada are still coping with the recession and struggling to make ends meet. There are 1.6 million Canadians who are unemployed and economists agree that job losses will continue until at least next spring.  These people need help and are counting on us to make sure they make it through the winter.

Olivia Chow wants to make sure they get the help they need.

The billion dollars that the Harper government says it is now willing to invest to improve EI appears to be a first step. Providing an extra 5 to 20 weeks of EI to the unemployed is legislation Olivia Chow and the New Democrats presented in the House this past spring and we are pleased to see that the Conservatives agree with us. This is why we will be looking at the proposal very seriously.

If there’s an election, we’ll be ready. But if we can make Parliament work for Canadians, we will.

Canadians want and deserve MPs like Olivia Chow, who will make Ottawa listen and act for us.
